Over the past 8 years, the floral industry has an opportunity to ‘peak’ into the soul of EMC. From Cycle 1 to the present students of Cycle 4, the global community has watched the EMC family grow as designers and people through the outlet of Social Media. And if anyone doubts the power of this venue, I have a little story to share with you.
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege to attend and participate in a Floral Association Annual Flower Show in the United States. Like many of the EMC Alumni, people in the floral world seem to know us as, what I like to refer to, “EMCers”. While I was busy refilling water tubes in a large natural constructions I had built for a stage decoration, a very talented American Designer approached me with inquisitive eyes and a mind you could see was lost in analytic thought. Bewildered he asked, “would you consider this a Zero Point arrangement?’ Of course, I was totally taken aback since this wonderful individual has never enrolled in EMC! I was shocked that he was aware of zero point arrangement at all! How many EMC students, including myself, struggled to wrap our floral brains around the concept and struggled to implement it during our course work. He began to tell me about how he has been following everything on the EMC Facebook pages during Part II. He even has engaged many EMC graduates in discussions to further understand the theory behind the European Process.
So, long story short, as EMC begins a new Era of interaction with florist worldwide with the launch of the new EMC interactive website, we await wonderful new stories, new floral friends and new experience which we will share thanks to the mystery and power of communication in a virtual reality that brings the world closer!
